German is the mother tongue of three major European countries. At the same time, it is the second language of many nations across Europe, among them Hungary, Romania, and the Czech Republic. If you have any plans of backpacking across Europe any time soon, it would be a good idea to start learning the German language. Who needs to learn German for business? You do, or might at least want to. Consider this: Germany is the world’s third biggest industrial country. It is also a huge world exporter. Think of the jobs up for grabs in that German-speaking part of the world. While it’s true a lot of Germans speak English, learning the German language lets you understand what is being said in its real context.

3. Learn German to understand the culture.
Beer may be Germany’s gift to the world but it is not the only reason Germany is a great country. Whether you’re a history buff who wants to understand Hitler’s meteoric rise to power or a guy who’s simply trying to get along with that German hottie next door, learning the German language will give you a much better perspective of many aspects of the German culture.

So why learn German? Because you can and because it would broaden your mind.
